Biography

Lillian (McKinstry) Almeida grew up in the plains of Northeastern Colorado. She studied painting and sculpture at the Kansas City Art Institute, and completed independent bodies of work in both printmaking and ceramics at Studio Art Centers International in Florence, Italy.

Lillian has continued working in the visual arts for over 20 years, periodically teaching courses in the community or at her studios, and developing her work.

Experiences that continue to lend insight and depth to her work include the study of writing with Clive Matson, author of Let the Crazy Child Write; caretaking a California ranch; and contributing editorial and concept assistance to Dr. Greg Stock of UCLA’s Program on Medicine, Technology and Society, author of several best-selling books including The Book of Questions and Metaman: The Merging of Humans and Machines into a Global Superorganism.

Lillian Almeida currently lives and works in the cascade mountains of Oregon.

While many of her pieces reside in private collections, she has only recently turned her attention toward the public exhibition of her work.
