I was born in South Dakota and grew up mostly in Oklahoma after a stint in Laos as a little girl. I attended Oklahoma State University as an architectural engineering student but my heart was in painting and drawing. I went on to study at the Kansas City Art Institute primarily with Davi Det Hompson and Lester Goldman. After receiving a BFA in Painting and Printmaking from the Art Institute in 1982, I moved to Colorado and ultimately to the San Francisco Bay area in California. I studied further at the College of Marin for a few semesters and then Diablo Valley College for several more. I have enjoyed the camaraderie of other artists and a variety of instructors as I’ve continued working and painting. More on art influences In the last few years I’ve been a founding and active member of two East Bay artists groups, Kunstanke and CC14, both a tremendous support for my endeavors.
